A seminar in the Department of Environmental Sciences focused on the role of bacteria in environmental sustainability.
Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, and with the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Khalil, a seminar entitled “The Role of Bacteria in Environmental Sustainability and Pollutant Treatment” was held in the Department of Environmental Sciences. The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Rawaa Mahmoud Hamoushi, a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Sciences at our college.
The seminar addressed the impact of bacteria on nutrient recycling, waste decomposition, nitrogen fixation, and the treatment of organic and inorganic pollutants. Bacteria have become a focus of widespread scientific interest in the field of environmental biotechnology due to their unique abilities to break down and convert toxic substances into non-toxic compounds. They now represent a cornerstone for achieving environmental sustainability.
