Training course launched at the College of Environmental Sciences on the role of artificial intelligence in water resource management

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, and with the follow-up of Assistant Professor Dr. Hazem Jumaa Mahmoud, Head of the Department of Environmental Technologies, and as part of the activities of the Continuing Education Unit to contribute to raising and developing the skills of staff in government departments, the training course entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing the Efficiency of the Modern Energy Sector” commenced on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in the college’s discussion hall. The course will continue for five days until November 6, 2025.
The first day’s lecture was presented by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Abdul-Razzaq Khader Mahmoud. The lecture, titled “Artificial Intelligence in Integrated Water and Energy Resources Management,” addressed the uses of artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of water systems through demand prediction, leak detection, and real-time pumping schedule optimization. Predictive algorithms enable the analysis of climate, pressure, and flow data to reduce water loss by up to 30%.
Smart models also help achieve sustainable water supply and reduce energy consumption in water treatment plants without affecting other requirements.
