A scientific workshop at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences focused on the techniques used in preparing nanotubes.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, the College of Environmental Sciences/Department of Environmental Health, in cooperation with the University of Mosul Presidency/Department of Studies and Planning/Sustainable Development Unit, held a workshop entitled “Technologies Used in the Preparation of Carbon Nanotubes.”

The workshop was presented by:
Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Younis
Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Khaliq Ayub Suleiman
Assistant Professor Suha Abdullah Najm
The workshop covered chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques for preparing thin films of carbon nanotubes, including thermal CVD and hot filament CVD. The second method was laser atomization using pulsed or continuous lasers to vaporize carbon atoms from graphite. The electric arc method, one of the oldest methods in preparation, was also discussed. In addition to plasma spraying methods, which include DC plasma and radio frequency plasma, the workshop targeted four Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).

In conclusion, the Dean’s Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Waleed Saeed Al-Abbasi, presented letters of appreciation to Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Younis of the College of Science, Department of New and Renewable Energy, and Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Khaliq Ayoub Suleiman of the College of Science, Department of Physics.
