The training course on water chemistry and quality in sustainable water resource management has begun at the College of Environmental Sciences.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, and with the follow-up of Assistant Professor Dr. Hazem Jumaa Mahmoud, Head of the Department of Environmental Technologies, and as part of the activities of the Continuing Education Unit to contribute to raising and developing the skills of staff in government departments, and in cooperation with the University of Mosul Presidency / Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, the training course entitled “Water Chemistry and Quality in the Service of Sustainable Water Resources Management” commenced on Sunday, November 30, 2025, in the college’s discussion hall. The course will continue for five days until December 4, 2025.

The first day of the course included two lectures:

The first lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Hazem Jumaa Mahmoud and covered the basic concepts related to water quality and its impact on the environment and public health. The factors affecting water quality and the impact of climate change on water resources were highlighted, along with the importance of adopting sustainable practices to preserve these resources.

The second lecture, delivered by Dr. Iman Abdel Moneim Al-Jawadi, addressed the importance of analyzing water chemistry and quality and its role in sustainable water resource management. The focus was on chemical reactions and their impact on water quality, which enhances the ability to make effective decisions and develop innovative strategies to ensure the availability of clean and safe water for future generations.
