College of Environmental Sciences

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, the College of Environmental Sciences/Department of Environmental Sciences, in cooperation with the University of Mosul/Department of Studies and Planning/Sustainable Development Unit, held a workshop entitled “Environmental Management and Methods of Addressing Environmental Problems in the City of Mosul.”

The workshop was presented by: Lecturer Mishal Ali Mohammed/College of Environmental Sciences, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Jassim/Nineveh Environment Directorate, and Mr. Bilal Uday Saeed/Nineveh Environment Directorate. The workshop addressed the role of the Nineveh Environment Directorate in its environmental oversight duties for the Nineveh Governorate through conducting field inspections of various activities and facilities to ensure their compliance with approved environmental regulations. It also covered conducting necessary laboratory analyses and tests, and reviewing the status of emissions, waste, and water according to national standards. The directorate also grants environmental approvals for projects after assessing their environmental impact and monitoring the implementation of protection recommendations. The workshop achieved seven of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 3, Goal 4, Goal 6, Goal 11, Goal 13, Goal 15, and Goal 17.

In conclusion, Professor Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Khalil presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Assistant Lecturer Bilal Uday Saeed and Mr. Ahmed Hamed Jassim of the Nineveh Environment Directorate.
