A scientific visit by third-year students of the Environmental Technology Department to the new Left Bank Water Project

Under the direct supervision of the Dean, Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, and the follow-up of the Head of the Environmental Technologies Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Hazem Jumaa Mahmoud, the Environmental Technologies Department at the College of Environmental Sciences organized a field trip for third-year students to the new Left Bank Water Treatment Plant. The visit aimed to enhance practical skills and connect theoretical concepts with field applications in the treatment and distribution of drinking water.

The students observed the water purification stages, from intake and sedimentation to filtration and disinfection, and finally to storage and distribution. They received a detailed explanation of the technical mechanisms used to monitor water quality and ensure its compliance with standards. The students also learned about the project’s role in providing potable water to the city’s residents and its importance in maintaining public health and protecting the environment. This visit comes within the framework of the department’s scientific programs aimed at developing students’ skills and introducing them to the reality of field work in service institutions related to the environment and water. The visit achieved seven Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 3, Goal 4, Goal 6, Goal 9, Goal 11, Goal 12, Goal 17).
