Climate Change and its Impact on Social Stability: An Analytical Study

In a new academic achievement, Asst. Lect. Huthaifa Fathullah Ali and Asst. Lect. Zainab Adel Merie from the Public Policy Branch have co-authored and published a study entitled “Climate Change and its Impact on Societal Stability in African Countries.” The collaborative paper was featured in the Journal of Babylon Center for Humanities Studies, Volume 16, Issue 3.

The paper investigates the profound impact of climate change on societal stability in Africa, analyzing its multidimensional repercussions—spanning social, economic, political, and security spheres. The research underscores an inverse proportional relationship: as climate change escalates, societal stability deteriorates. This dynamic intensifies environmental and economic stressors, compounding challenges such as resource scarcity, forced migration, and armed conflicts, thereby undermining social cohesion and community security.

This scholarly contribution effectively responds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a specific focus on Quality Education (Goal 4), Climate Action (Goal 13), and Partnerships for the Goals (Goal 17).
