Asst. Prof. Dr. Wasan Salih Hussein, faculty member in the Department of Biology, participated as a co-supervisor for the doctoral dissertation of Alaa Khalid Ibrahim from the Department of Field Crops, College of Agriculture and Forestry.

The dissertation was entitled:
“Allelopathic Effect of Intercropping Barley and Safflower on Growth Traits, Yield of the Two Crops, and Associated Weeds under Rainfed Conditions.”

The study addressed the inhibitory effects of barley and safflower residues on growth and productivity traits, as well as their allelopathic influence on associated weeds such as wild oats and Lolium species under rainfed agricultural conditions.

The defense took place on the morning of Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Mosul.
