In a new scientific achievement adding to the accomplishments of the College of Science, University of Mosul, Asst. Prof. Dr. Haitham Luqman Shahab Al-Hayali, faculty member in the Department of Biology, along with Master’s student Safa Abdulbasit Ismail, successfully registered four genetic mutations in the NCBI Gene Bank under the codes and accession numbers:

• SAHA1, SAHA2, SAHA3 – Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 Beta (PV468254.1, PV468255.1, PV468256.1)

• SAHA5 – Insulin Receptor Substrate 1 (PV468257.1)

The samples were collected from patients with insulin resistance, examined by specialized medical doctors.

This achievement enriches global genetic databases and reflects the research efforts of the Department of Biology in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology.
