As part of the activities of the Educational Guidance Committee in the Department of Biology Sciences, College of Science, University of Mosul, and in cooperation with the Dean’s Office, an awareness event was organized to commemorate World Mental Health Day, which falls on October 10th each year (October 10, 2025).

The event included the display of a collection of educational posters prepared by students and college members of the department. These posters addressed mental health concepts, the importance of raising awareness about mental health, and ways to achieve psychological balance in university and professional life.

It is worth noting that the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized this day in 1992 to raise global awareness of mental health, encourage open dialogue and psychological support, and combat the social stigma associated with mental disorders.

This initiative reflects the Department of Biology Sciences’ commitment to supporting the human and educational development of its students and to establishing a culture of prioritizing mental health as a fundamental element in building a balanced and productive academic environment.

At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed their appreciation for this initiative, which contributes to fostering a culture of mental health awareness within the university community. They emphasized the importance of continuing such activities, which promote a spirit of cooperation and solidarity and contribute to building a generation that is aware and capable of facing psychological and academic challenges with confidence and balance.
