Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim Al-Tai, and the Head of the Guidance Division, Assistant Professor Dr. Erada Abdul-Khaliq Khalil, and as part of the activities of Mental Health Week, the Physics Department organized an awareness lecture on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, entitled “Social Solidarity: Calling for Justice or Equality?”

The lecture addressed the concept of social solidarity and its role in achieving justice within society, comparing the concepts of justice and equality from a humanistic and social perspective. It also touched upon the issue of gender equality and its importance in promoting sustainable development and social harmony, while emphasizing women’s empowerment and ensuring equal opportunities for both genders in the fields of education, work, and community participation.

The lecture clarified that gender equality does not mean identical genders, but rather aims to achieve justice and equity in rights and duties in a manner that suits the nature and role of each individual in society.
