International Scientific Participation by a Faculty Member from the Department of Geology and Petroleum Science

Continuing the tradition of creativity and excellence demonstrated by the faculty members of the College of Science, Mr. Mohammed Muwaffaq Yahya, a lecturer in the Department of Geology and Petroleum Science, participated in the international training course entitled:
“17th Course on Geographic Information System for Geoscientists”
which was held in Hyderabad, India, from January 7 to January 27, 2026.
The course was organized by the:
Geological Survey of India Training Institute (GSITI)
under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
The course brought together participants from 19 different countries, providing a distinguished international scientific environment for exchanging academic and technical expertise in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The program included advanced scientific content combining theoretical lectures with hands-on practical sessions, covering several specialized topics, including:
- Spatial Data Modeling
- Geo-referencing and Map Projections
- Spatial Analysis
- Geospatial Data Integration
- Applications of Modern Technologies in Geosciences
This participation reflects the College of Science’s commitment to supporting continuous academic development, enhancing the scientific capabilities of its faculty members, and transferring the latest international expertise to educational and research activities, thereby strengthening the scientific standing of the University of Mosul at both regional and international levels.
