Faculty Member from the College of Science Participates in the Third Counseling Conference on Mental Health and Community Service

Dr. Reem Nawaf Hamdoun, Lecturer in the Department of Forensic Sciences, College of Science, University of Mosul, participated in the Third Counseling Conference, entitled “Mental Health in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Serving the Community,” through a scientific lecture titled “Causes of Drug Abuse Among Students.” The lecture was presented as part of the conference activities held at the College of Nursing on Sunday, 15 February 2026.

The lecture highlighted the most significant psychological, social, and environmental factors that may contribute to drug abuse among students. It also addressed the negative consequences of substance abuse on both individuals and society, emphasizing the importance of psychological awareness and counseling programs in preventing this phenomenon and promoting mental well-being, thereby contributing to the development of a healthy and informed society.

The conference witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members from the University of Mosul, in addition to a number of academics and students. The event featured several scientific lectures focusing on the importance of mental health and its role in achieving sustainable development and serving the community.

This participation reflects the College of Science’s commitment to supporting scientific and counseling activities and strengthening the academic role of its faculty members in promoting scientific awareness and community service.
