College of Science Holds Funeral Prayer in Absentia for the Late Dr. Imad Younis Hassan

With hearts filled with faith in Allah’s will and decree, yet overwhelmed with sorrow and grief, the College of Science at the University of Mosul mourns the loss of its esteemed faculty member, Dr. Imad Younis Hassan, lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, who passed away after a distinguished academic career marked by dedication, sincerity, and unwavering commitment to science and education.
Born on 17 July 1979, the late Dr. Imad was a model university academic who firmly believed that knowledge is both a trust and a responsibility. Throughout his career, he devoted himself to teaching and scientific research, inspiring generations of students with a passion for learning, diligence, and academic excellence. He was admired by his students and colleagues alike for his knowledge, humility, and exemplary character.
Dr. Imad obtained his Ph.D. degree from Australia and returned to Iraq carrying valuable academic expertise and scientific knowledge, which he dedicated to serving his university and college. He made significant contributions to the advancement of scientific research and the development of the academic process. He also served as the Rapporteur of the Department of Chemistry, where he demonstrated outstanding professionalism, discipline, and administrative competence, playing an active role in enhancing both academic and organizational performance within the department.
A funeral prayer in absentia (Salat Al-Gha’ib) was held in the College in memory of the deceased, attended by the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, members of the College Council, faculty members of the Department of Chemistry, and a large number of students, all gathered to bid farewell to a respected scholar who devoted his life to knowledge and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
With his passing, the College has lost a distinguished academic and a remarkable human being. Nevertheless, his scientific legacy, noble character, and dedicated service will remain a lasting testament to his integrity, generosity, and commitment to education.
We pray that Almighty Allah grants him His vast mercy, admits him into His eternal Paradise, rewards him abundantly for all that he offered, and grants patience and solace to his family, colleagues, students, and loved ones.
Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
