Scientific Field Visit for Medical Physics Students to the College of Medicine at Nineveh University

The Department of Medical Physics at the College of Science organized a scientific field visit for second-year undergraduate students (morning studies) to the College of Medicine at Nineveh University on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, accompanied by a number of the department’s academic staff.

The visit was conducted as part of the College of Science’s efforts to strengthen the practical aspect of education and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. During the visit, students toured several specialized scientific laboratories at the College of Medicine and were introduced to advanced equipment and technologies utilized in the field of medical physics.

The program included a detailed presentation delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Ghanim Al-Ghabsha on the equipment available in the Medical Physics Laboratory. Among the devices highlighted was the Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scanner, which is used to measure bone mineral density and body fat percentage. Students were also given the opportunity to observe practical demonstrations and undergo examinations to gain direct experience with the device’s operation and medical applications.

In addition, the visit included tours of the histology and anatomy laboratories, where students learned about the scientific procedures and methodologies employed in these advanced facilities. The activities were conducted in collaboration with faculty members from the College of Medicine at Nineveh University, creating a distinguished academic environment that reflected the spirit of inter-institutional cooperation and supported the advancement of applied learning.

The College of Science extends its best wishes to its students for continued success and excellence throughout their academic journey.
