College of Science Organizes a Workshop on “Chemistry and the Future of Humanity: Innovations, Challenges, and Solutions”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science organized a Continuing Education Workshop on Thursday, March 12, 2026, entitled:

“Chemistry and the Future of Humanity: Innovations, Challenges, and Solutions.”

The workshop aimed to highlight the role of chemistry in advancing humanity and addressing global challenges, enhance understanding of the importance of chemistry in human life, discuss environmental and health-related issues, and explore future perspectives in the field of chemistry.

The workshop also addressed the significance of chemistry in everyday life and its applications in various sectors, including medicine, agriculture, industry, and energy. In addition, participants discussed major environmental challenges such as chemical pollution, industrial waste, water and air contamination, plastic accumulation in the environment, and the health risks associated with chemical substances.

Furthermore, the workshop reviewed recent innovations in chemistry, including nanomaterials, precision medicine, smart materials, and other emerging developments that are shaping the future of the discipline.
