College of Science at the University of Mosul Organizes an Awareness Workshop on “Civil Defense and Safety Requirements”

The College of Science at the University of Mosul organized an awareness workshop entitled “Civil Defense and Safety Requirements” on the morning of Tuesday, 21 April 2026, in the Conference Hall of the Department of Chemistry. The workshop was conducted under the supervision and participation of officials from the Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate.

The workshop aimed to strengthen public safety concepts and promote preventive awareness among the college community. It featured scientific presentations and practical guidance on essential safety procedures, accident prevention measures, and appropriate responses to emergency situations and fire incidents, particularly within laboratories and classrooms.

The event witnessed active engagement and attendance from faculty members, staff, and students of the College of Science, reflecting the College’s commitment to fostering a culture of occupational safety and maintaining a secure academic environment that supports education and scientific research.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants emphasized the importance of adhering to approved safety regulations and highlighted the need to continue organizing such awareness activities due to their significant role in protecting lives and property within the university campus.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through promoting safety awareness and risk prevention, and Goal 4: Quality Education, by providing educational opportunities that enhance knowledge and preparedness in emergency situations.
