Registration of Seven Bacterial Isolates in the NCBI Database

As part of the scientific achievements of the College of Science at the University of Mosul, a research team from the Department of Biology has registered seven new bacterial isolates in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database. This achievement reflects the department’s active scientific contribution in the field of molecular biology.
The research work was carried out under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Aws Ibrahim Suleiman, with the participation of M.Sc. student Saja Anwar Fadel. The team successfully isolated and identified several bacterial strains from cases of dacryocystitis in Mosul city.
The registered bacterial isolates include the following species:
These isolates were identified using bacteriological and molecular techniques based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing, which is essential for accurate bacterial identification.
The genetic sequences were officially deposited in the GenBank database (NCBI) under the following accession numbers:
This achievement comes within the requirements of academic research and contributes to the documentation of molecular data of bacterial isolates, making them available to researchers worldwide, while supporting studies on microbial diversity and its medical applications.
The Deanery and the Department Head praised the scientific efforts, emphasizing their continuous support for high-quality research that enhances the college’s academic reputation locally and internationally.
