College of Science Participates in a Training Course on Renewable Energy in Cooperation with Government Institutions in Nineveh

As part of strengthening communication and cooperation between the University of Mosul and government institutions, a number of faculty members from the Department of New and Renewable Energies at the College of Science participated in a training course entitled “Renewable Energy and the Environment”, held from 3 to 17 May 2026 at the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in Nineveh.

The participation was conducted under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, with follow-up by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Munir Suhail.

The course was attended by 123 trainees from various agricultural institutions across Nineveh Governorate and was structured around two main components:

Theoretical Component:
Focused on environmental risks and methods of mitigation, with particular emphasis on solar energy, hydropower, hydrogen energy, wind energy, and applications of nanotechnology.

Practical Component:
Included hands-on training in assembling solar cells, measuring their efficiency, generating electricity using wind turbines and hydrogen fuel cells, as well as recycling waste materials.

The course aimed to equip government employees with modern practical skills that keep pace with developments in the fields of energy and environmental sustainability, while supporting the efforts of state institutions in these sectors.

The course concluded with an assessment examination to evaluate the participants’ understanding and acquisition of the presented material.
