Research Team from the Department of Biology Registers a New Bacterial Isolate in the NCBI Database

A research team from the Department of Biology at the College of Science has successfully registered a bacterial isolate in the database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) as part of its academic research activities.
The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Falak Abdulhafidh Khattab and Dr. Huda Waleed Hadi, with the participation of students Ahmed Nashwan Fathi and Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed as part of their graduation research project.
The registered bacterial isolate belongs to the species Acinetobacter variabilis. The isolate was obtained from fitness and sports facilities and identified using molecular techniques based on the analysis and sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene.
The genetic sequence was officially deposited in the GenBank database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) under the accession number:
PZ379626
This achievement forms part of the College’s commitment to academic scientific research and contributes to the documentation and dissemination of molecular data related to bacterial isolates, making them accessible to researchers and supporting future scientific studies.
