Two Faculty Members from the College of Science Participate in a PhD Dissertation Defense at the University of Babylon

As part of academic cooperation and the exchange of expertise among Iraqi universities, Assistant Professor Dr. Rabee Khallaf Hassan and Assistant Professor Dr. Saddam Issa Mustafa from the College of Science, University of Mosul, participated in the defense of the PhD dissertation of student Ahmed Salah Al-Turaifi at the College of Science, University of Babylon, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
The dissertation was entitled:
“Structural Study of Selected Fold Sections in Northern Iraq and Their Roles in Rock Slope Stability.”
The research presented a detailed structural analysis of selected fold sections in northern Iraq and examined their influence on the stability of rock slopes. The topic is of considerable scientific and practical importance in the fields of engineering geology and geological hazard management.
The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Amer Atiyah Lafta Al-Khalidi from the University of Babylon and included the following members:
- Professor Dr. Hamid Ali Ahmed
- Professor Dr. Haider Ubaid Saloumi
- Professor Dr. Abdul Kareem Hussein Abd
- Assistant Professor Dr. Saddam Issa Mustafa – University of Mosul
The dissertation was supervised by:
- Professor Dr. Jaafar Hussein Ali
- Assistant Professor Dr. Rabee Khallaf Hassan – University of Mosul
Following the defense, the committee approved the dissertation with the grade of Excellent, in recognition of the distinguished quality of the research work.
At the conclusion of the session, the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hadi Shanin Al-Shammari, presented Letters of Appreciation to the committee members in recognition of their valuable academic contributions.
The College of Science wishes its faculty members continued success and excellence in their academic and scientific endeavors.
