Department of Geology and Petroleum Discusses PhD Dissertation of Student Alaa Mahmoud Saeed Hassan Al-Wazzan

With the help of God Almighty, the College of Science / Department of Geology and Petroleum is scheduled to hold the discussion of the PhD dissertation submitted by the student Alaa Mahmoud Saeed Hassan Al-Wazzan, entitled:

“Biostratigraphy and Depositional Environment of the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous Period of the Gajkera Formation, Northeastern Iraq.”

The dissertation aims to study and analyze the biostratigraphy and determine the associated characteristics and depositional environment of the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous interval of the Gajkera Formation in northeastern Iraq. This research contributes to enhancing regional geological knowledge and provides accurate stratigraphic and environmental indicators that support the exploration of natural resources and petroleum prospects in the region.

The defense will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, corresponding to 3 June 2026, at the Hall of Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hamdani, Department of Geology and Petroleum.
