Faculty Member from the College of Science Earns Ph.D. with Distinction from Tikrit University

Lecturer Zahraa Jirjis Mohammed, a faculty member in the Department of Geology and Petroleum at the College of Science, has been awarded a Ph.D. degree with Distinction from the College of Science, Tikrit University, following the successful defense of her dissertation entitled:

“Organic and Inorganic Geochemistry of the Zubair Formation in the Tuba Oil Field, Southern Iraq”

The dissertation was defended on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, in the presence of a distinguished panel of academics and specialists in the field of geology and petroleum sciences.

The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sawsan Hamid Faisal and included Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahir Mahmoud Taha, Asst. Prof. Dr. Warya Jihad Jabbar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Faleeh Hassan Abbas, a faculty member in the Department of Geology and Petroleum at the College of Science, University of Mosul, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaseen Saleh Kareem. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Wakaa Ajil served as both the dissertation supervisor and a member of the examination committee.

During the defense, the researcher presented the major findings of her study on the organic and inorganic geochemistry of the Zubair Formation. The dissertation included comprehensive scientific data and analyses that contribute to advancing geological knowledge related to the oil fields of southern Iraq.

At the conclusion of the defense, the committee awarded the researcher the Ph.D. degree with Distinction, in recognition of the scientific quality of the dissertation, its valuable findings, and her outstanding academic efforts.

On this occasion, the College of Science, represented by its Dean, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, extends its sincere congratulations to Lecturer Zahraa Jirjis Mohammed on earning her Ph.D. degree, wishing her continued success and many more achievements in her academic and scientific career, in service of the University of Mosul and the College of Science.
