In a new scientific achievement added to the Register of research activity in the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science, a research team was able to register three parasitic strains belonging to ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) in the database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). The research team included Prof. Dr. Mohammed Salah al-Din, Prof. Dr. Bushra Hassan, and assistant professor Najwa Mahfouz from the Department of life sciences, and in cooperation with assistant professor Wahda Abdul Razzaq kharoufa from Mosul Medical College, after collecting samples of mites from the ears of domestic cats in Mosul city. The three breeds were included in the global database under the accession numbers: PZ715813.1 PZ715812.1 PZ715811.1 This registration represents an important scientific addition to efforts to document parasitic diversity at the molecular level, as well as to supplement global databases with genetic data that can be used in studies related to molecular classification, genetic diversity and parasite prevalence. On this occasion, the Faculty of science congratulates the researchers on this scientific achievement, wishing them continued success, and more giving and excellence in their scientific and research career.
