The Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Mosul discussed the master’s thesis tagged ” autoimmune disorders associated with the development of psoriasis in the city of Mosul”, submitted by researcher Dina Anwar Mustafa Izzat al-Faydi, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The study shed light on the autoimmune footprint of psoriasis, by focusing on three new autoantibodies, Anti-ADAMTSL5, anti-Keratin 17 and anti-LL37, and studying their role in psoriasis and the possibility of their association with the development of the disease from a skin injury to a more complex condition associated with psoriatic arthritis, the research aims to find serological indicators that can contribute to early diagnosis and understanding the course of the disease progression. The results revealed a clear significant increase in the levels of all three antibodies in psoriasis patients compared to healthy ones, indicating the presence of an interrelated autoimmune response targeting various antigens associated with the disease. The results also showed a distinctive diagnostic ability of these indicators, especially Anti-ADAMTSL5 and anti-Keratin 17, along with Anti-LL37, which opens the possibility of using them as promising serological indicators to help diagnose psoriasis and follow its development. The study also showed changes in a number of inflammatory, hematological and biochemical indicators in patients compared to healthy ones, consistent with the systemic inflammatory nature of the disease. The study highlights the importance of linking this autoimmune response to the relationship between skin psoriasis and articular psoriasis, thus enhancing the understanding of psoriasis as a systemic immune inflammatory disease whose effects are not limited to the skin, but may extend in some patients to the joints.
