Within the framework of scientific and academic cooperation between the faculties of the University of Mosul, professor Dr. Warqa said Qasim, a lecturer at the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science – University of Mosul, chaired the discussion Committee of the master’s thesis tagged “investigation of the cause of pepper root rot disease and biological control”, submitted by student Sarah Yassin Fathi in the plant protection department at the Faculty of Agriculture and forestry, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The dissertation dealt with the isolation and diagnosis of fungi causing pepper root rot disease based on phenotypic and molecular diagnostics, assessment of the pathogenetic ability of the pathogenic fungus under laboratory and field conditions, as well as the study of the efficiency of one of the biological control agents in reducing and combating the pathogenic fungus under laboratory and field conditions. The discussion Committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Warqa Saeed Qasem, and the membership of assistant professor Dr. Raghad Nayef Mehidi and teacher Dr. Saleh Ahmed Issa, while the message was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hammoud Thanoun and assistant professor Dr. Alaa Hamid Mohammed. This scientific participation comes as a confirmation of the distinguished academic and research role of the Faculty of science teachers, and their active contribution to supporting the process of graduate studies and enhancing scientific cooperation between the faculties of the University of Mosul.
