In application of chemistry to the scientific advancements in cosmetic medicine, the Chemistry Department organized a workshop entitled “Chemistry of Cosmetic Procedures and Their Applications.”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi,

and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and the follow-up of the Head of the Chemistry Department, Professor Dr. Salem Jassim Mohammed, the Chemistry Department, as part of its Continuing Education Unit activities, organized a workshop entitled “Chemistry of Cosmetic Procedures and Their Applications” on Monday, October 13, 2025.

It was presented by: Professor Dr. Shaimaa Khazal Younis and Professor Dr. Ammar Abdul Sattar Ibrahim, Dr. Basma Ahmed Abdul Hadi, and Dr. Afyaa Muayyad Younis

The workshop addressed the concept of cosmetic procedures and their close relationship to chemistry, highlighting the nature of the chemical materials used. It also discussed the differences between traditional and modern cosmetic techniques in terms of safety, effectiveness, and the types of materials used. Furthermore, it covered common procedures such as chemical peels, fillers, Botox, and skin rejuvenation injections, presenting their advantages, disadvantages, and side effects. The importance of raising scientific awareness about the safe use of these cosmetic procedures was also emphasized.
