Registration of Five New Bacterial Strains in the Global Gene Bank (NCBI)

As part of the continuous scientific achievements at the College of Science, Professor Dr. Ryan Mazen Faisal, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, in collaboration with undergraduate research students Osman Ahmed Mohammed, Rahma Saadallah Younis, and Fatima Youssef Hamad, has registered five new bacterial strains in the global gene bank (NCBI).

The registered strains belong to the following bacterial species:

  • Escherichia coli
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Serratia marcescens
  • Proteus mirabilis
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae

The genetic sequences were deposited under the accession numbers (PZ269356 – PZ269360), following their local isolation from clinical samples collected in Mosul city and identification using modern molecular techniques.

This achievement represents an important scientific contribution that helps document local bacterial isolates in global databases, supporting researchers and strengthening the college’s presence in high-quality scientific research fields.

We wish continued success and prosperity to our dear students.
