God willing, the Department of Biology , College of Science, will hold the defense of the Ph.D. dissertation of student Zahraa Tariq Abdulhamid Abdul Majeed, entitled:

“Isolation of Plastic Degrading Bacterial Strains from Mosul Environment – Iraq”

The dissertation aims to isolate and identify bacterial strains from the environment of Mosul City that possess the ability to degrade and decompose plastic materials, contributing to the development of sustainable biological and environmental solutions for plastic waste management and reducing its harmful impact on the environment.

The defense will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Haj Qasim Hall in the Department of Life Sciences.
