The Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Mosul, will, God willing, hold the PhD dissertation defense of Ms. Zahraa Khazaal Hamdoon Abdul Al-Sawwaf, entitled:

“Molecular and Biochemical Characterization of β-1,3-Glucanase Enzyme Isolated from Selected Indigenous Soil Fungi and Investigation of Some of Its Biological Applications.”

The dissertation aims to conduct a comprehensive molecular and biochemical characterization of the β-1,3-Glucanase enzyme extracted from fungal isolates collected from local soils, and to investigate its biological properties and potential applications. The study seeks to enhance both the academic and practical understanding of the utilization of this enzyme in biotechnology and biological control.

The dissertation defense will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, 18 June 2026, in Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Haj Qasim Hall, Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Mosul.
