Assistant professor Dr. Alaa Hussein Ali, rapporteur of the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of science, participated on Monday, July 27, 2026, in the membership of the master’s thesis discussion Committee at the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of education for Pure Sciences/University of Tikrit, tagged: “Isolation and diagnosis of some qualitatively and quantitatively effective compounds in the leaves and flowers of the shafal plant (Capparis spinosa L.) And the study of their biological effectiveness against species of microbiota”، Presented by student Hala Dawood Abdul Dawood Al-Mallah. The study aimed at isolating and diagnosing the active compounds found in the leaves and flowers of the shafallah plant, determining them qualitatively and quantitatively, as well as evaluating their biological effectiveness and testing their effect against a number of types of Microbiology, in order to explore their potential in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. The results showed that the leaves and flowers of the plant contain a group of active compounds of vital importance, with different concentrations depending on the plant part, and plant extracts showed remarkable effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of a number of microorganisms. The study concluded that the shafallah plant is a promising natural source of bioactive compounds, and that its extracts have application potential in the resistance of some microorganisms, which opens up new horizons for future studies and research in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
