A Training Course at Department of Electrical Engineering Entitled “Antenna Design for Modern Medical Applications”

As part of the scientific activities of College of Engineering at University of Mosul and its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), Department of Electrical Engineering is conducting a training course entitled “Antenna Design for Modern Medical Applications.” The five-day course runs from 18 to 22 October 2026 and is held in the Discussion Hall of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

The course aims to introduce participants to the fundamental principles and modern applications of smart antenna design for medical purposes, particularly implantable and wearable antennas. It also focuses on their role in advancing medical communication systems and improving the performance of healthcare devices and remote medical monitoring systems.

The course is supervised and delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Saad Wasmi Othman, alongside Lecturer Dr. Azzam Issam Dawood, Lecturer Dr. Ahmed Abduljabbar Ismail, Lecturer Noor Thamer Mohammed Fadhil, and Assistant Lecturer Dr. Zahraa Mohammed Younis Saeed.

The course program covers the fundamentals of antenna design for modern medical applications, digital simulation techniques, and the performance analysis of implantable and wearable antennas. It also addresses challenges associated with the effects of human tissues on antenna performance, biocompatibility and safety requirements, and approaches to advancing wireless communication technologies to support medical devices and remote healthcare systems.
