College of Science Discusses PhD Dissertation on Surface Proteins of Streptococcus Species and Their Impact on Immune Response

The Department of Biology at the College of Science, University of Mosul, discussed a PhD dissertation on Thursday, February 12, 2026, entitled:
“Isolation and Identification of Surface Proteins of Streptococcus spp. Isolated from Different Clinical Sources and Studying Their Relation with Immunological Parameters”
submitted by PhD candidate Ahmed Khalid Hamdoon from the Department of Biology.

During the session, the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, presented a Letter of Appreciation to Prof. Fatima Aboudi Ali from Hawler Medical University, Erbil, in recognition of her valuable scientific contributions and constructive observations, which enriched the academic quality of the dissertation.
At the conclusion of the defense, the committee commended the dissertation for its high scientific standard and emphasized the significance of its findings in medical research and sustainable healthcare. The study offers promising practical applications that could contribute to advancing the healthcare sector.
This dissertation aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through enhancing understanding of immune mechanisms associated with bacterial infections and improving opportunities for early diagnosis and treatment. It also supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by employing modern biotechnological techniques in scientific research, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through academic collaboration among universities and scientific institutions.
