Publishing a scientific research for teaching from the Faculty of Science in an international journal indexed within Scopus (Q1)

In a scientific achievement that reflects the advanced status of scientific research at the University of Mosul, a joint scientific research between the University of Mosul and the University of Tikrit was published in one of the sober international journals of the British publishing house Elsevier, classified within the first quarter (Q1) in Scopus and Clarivate.
The research was titled:
Geochemical Assessment of Groundwater for Drinking and Irrigation Uses in the Goma-Span Watershed, Erbil, NE Iraq
He has been published in the journal:
Physics and Chemistry of the Earth
The Journal has distinguished scientific indicators that reflect its sobriety and global status, with an impact Factor of 4.6, CiteScore of 7.0, and an H-Index of 121.
The research team included both:
- Madin Raad Ghazal Al-Jubouri-University of Mosul / Faculty of Science (senior researcher).
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Waqa Al-Khafaji-Tikrit University / Faculty of science (second researcher).
The research dealt with a comprehensive geochemical assessment of groundwater in the Kuma span Basin in Erbil governorate, in order to determine its suitability for human uses, especially drinking and irrigation, based on a set of geochemical and environmental indicators.
The study was also distinguished by providing an integrated assessment of the potential health risks associated with the use of groundwater, through analyzing the likelihood of cancer and non-cancer diseases, providing scientific data that contribute to supporting decision makers and environmental policy makers in preparing proactive plans to maintain public health and enhance water security.
This publication is a qualitative addition to the record of research achievements of the Faculty of Science, and reflects the outstanding scientific level of its teachers, as well as its contribution to enhancing the presence of Mosul University in reputable international journals and consolidating its position in the field of scientific research.
