Doctoral dissertation discusses the evaluation of the biochemical role of the hormone fabcin in patients with atherosclerosis

The Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science – University of Mosul, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, discussed the doctoral thesis tagged ” assessment of the biochemical role of fabcin on patients with atherosclerosis ” by doctoral student Raghad abdulmohud Mohammed Hammo al-Abadi in the Hall of Professor Dr. Youssef Abdullah Shihab for discussions in the presence of the dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim, Scientific Assistant and head of the Department. The aim of the study was to determine the normal range of fapkin hormone and the possibility of its adoption as an early diagnostic indicator of a person’s predisposition to atherosclerosis of both sexes, isolate fatty acids associated with the disease, as well as isolate and characterize the gene responsible for it. The scientific methodology was characterized by integration across three main parts: the first included determining the reference normal range of the hormone and studying its effect on clinical biochemical variables and body mass index, the second focused on the isolation and characterization of fatty acids causing the disease in its early stages, while the third part was devoted to molecular analysis and isolation of the gene responsible for determining the sequence of nitrogenous bases associated with injury. The main results and achievements of the study : Innovative diagnostic marker: the possibility of using the hormone fapkin as a new biomarker for the diagnosis of early atherosclerosis and the Prevention of its complications, due to its significantly elevated levels in patients, with its normal reference range determined for both sexes. Isolation of causative fatty acids: the successful isolation and identification of six fatty acids directly responsible for triggering the occurrence of atherosclerosis. Supporting sustainable development: achieving the thesis of a number of Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically the goals (SDG3, SDG4, SDG9, SDG10, SDG12) by linking the results to the medical, educational and environmental sectors. The discussion Committee was chaired by Dr. Sakina Hussein Rashid, with the membership of : assistant professor Dr. Jahan Abdul Wahab Muhammad Ali, assistant professor Dr. Mohammed Fadel Hamid Majid, assistant professor Dr. Amal Taha Hamid Ramla, assistant professor Dr. Alia Farouk al-Omari, and under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Zeina Abdel Moneim Al-Jawadi. The dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to assistant professor Dr. Mohammed Fadel Hamid from the northern Technical University in appreciation of his efforts in discussing the student. We wish our dear students continued excellence and success in their scientific career.
