Training Course on Earth’s Climate and Contemporary Environmental Challenges

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and under the guidance and supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and within the framework of the College’s Continuing Education Program, the Department of Geology and Petroleum Sciences organized a scientific training course entitled:
“Earth’s Climate Between Crisis and Solutions: Towards Renewed Environmental Awareness.”
The course was held on Tuesday, 10 March 2025, for a duration of five days, with the attendance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Omar Khulooq Mohammed Sajad, along with a number of faculty members and postgraduate students.
The course included four scientific lectures delivered by Dr. Rana Abdulilah Mahmood, Dr. Ru’yaa Mohammed Hassan, and Dr. Alaa Saad Hamad from the University of Ninevah.
The program addressed the growing climate challenges facing the planet as a result of accelerating climate change and human activities, highlighting their environmental impacts such as rising global temperatures, melting polar ice, changing weather patterns, and declining biodiversity.
The lectures also emphasized the importance of strengthening environmental awareness among individuals and communities, and the need to adopt sustainable policies and practices to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis. Special attention was given to the vital role of science, technology, and international cooperation in developing innovative solutions that preserve ecological balance and support sustainable development pathways.
