Workshop Discusses the Comparison Between Ansys and Abaqus Software and Their Applications in Physics

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Department of Physics organized a scientific workshop entitled “A Comparison Between Ansys and Abaqus Software and Their Applications in Physics” on Thursday, 19 February 2026, as part of its Continuing Education activities.
The workshop presented a comparative study of the Ansys and Abaqus software packages, focusing on their user interfaces, modeling capabilities, data-processing mechanisms, and the various types of analyses that can be performed using each platform. It also highlighted the material libraries available in both systems, the flexibility of modifying and expanding these libraries, and the coding and programming features offered to researchers.
In addition, the workshop addressed the key criteria researchers should consider when selecting the most suitable software for their studies, based on research requirements, simulation objectives, accuracy of results, and ease of handling complex physical models. Particular emphasis was placed on applications in mechanics, material properties, stress analysis, and multiphysics modeling.
The workshop was delivered by:
The event was attended by a distinguished group of university academics, researchers, and specialists interested in numerical modeling and simulation.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the organizers expressed their best wishes for the continued success of all participants and emphasized the importance of organizing such scientific activities, which contribute to developing researchers’ skills and strengthening the scientific research environment at the university.
