A workshop entitled: “The Phenomenon of Smoking Among Youth and Its Psychological, Social, and Cognitive Effects” by the University Psychological Counseling Department

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, the University Psychological Counseling Division, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit, held a workshop on the phenomenon of smoking among youth and its psychological, social, and cognitive effects on May 3, 2026. The workshop aimed to highlight the increasingly prevalent phenomenon of smoking among young people. It emphasized the dangers of many young people starting to smoke at an early age without sufficient awareness of its risks, making this phenomenon a health and behavioral problem that requires awareness and attention from families and the community. The workshop also addressed methods of prevention and treatment of smoking addiction, highlighting the most prominent sustainability goals related to the topic:
• Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being: Reduce deaths and illnesses resulting from smoking and promote prevention and treatment.
• Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production: Reduce tobacco use and minimize tobacco waste and pollution.
• Goal 13: Climate Action
