Discussion of a master’s thesis in the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics – Department of Mathematics Sciences

Discussion of a master’s thesis in the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics – Department of Mathematics entitled:” Prediction of Secondary Structure of protein by combining hidden Markov model and support vector Machine”It was discussed in the discussion room at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Sunday 4/9/2022
Master’s thesis by student Ahmed Hussein Qassem Abdul Latif and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Omar Saber Qassem and Dr. Fatima Mahmoud Hussein.
The research included an analytical study of each of the protein and amino acid sequences, a study of the theoretical side of hidden Markov models and the burglar vector machine, and proposed solutions to some of the obstacles that may appear when using these algorithms to predict the secondary structure of a protein. The proposed CHS algorithm showed high flexibility in dealing with protein sequences, unaffected by problems affecting HMM and SVM, and the accuracy of protein secondary structure prediction was obtained about 94%, which shows a great superiority over traditional algorithms by predicting protein secondary structure.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Basil Younis Thanoun/Mosul University/College of Computer Science and Mathematics/Experienced Professor.
The membership of:
Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul-Sattar Muhammad Khader/Northern Technical University/Mosul Technical Institute.
Assistant Professor Dr. Muthanna Sobhi Suleiman / University of Mosul / College of Computer Science and Mathematics.
With the membership and supervision of Prof. Dr. Omar Saber Qassem and Dr. Fatima Mahmoud Hussein.
