The proliferation of technology and information technology today makes it unnecessary to explain the importance of computer science – this broad, constantly evolving field that has served all sciences, leaving its mark and achieving a major shift in various disciplines such as medicine, engineering, and others. Most sciences today rely, in one way or another, on computer science, which is fundamentally intertwined with mathematics in many aspects. We are not exaggerating when we say that today’s sciences combined have become in need of various computer sciences, this science that has shortened distances, reduced time, and facilitated difficult tasks… until what was impossible yesterday has become a reality today thanks to the technological revolution that has overflowed and favored other sciences. The proliferation of computer science today, its diversity, and its openness to other sciences and disciplines, places all of us in this college, administration and affiliates, before a challenge that may be unique: keeping pace with developments, in which hardly a day comes without the emergence of a new technology. And as is well known, every new technology is followed by something that disappears. How many technologies have obliterated their sisters and obliterated their predecessors? Therefore, based on this, it is our duty to keep pace with developments and update our curricula on a regular basis, so that our dear students remain up-to-date and informed of every update and every science related to our college’s specialization. The departments of this prestigious college did not come together in vain or unintentionally; no, the interconnectedness between them is clear, and interdependence is almost at its highest level. Therefore, we in this college strive to build an integrated system, starting with the faculty member and moving on to the student, to integrate experiences and transfer knowledge from one department to another. This is achieved by implementing a precise work program that was prepared in advance and builds bridges of connection between departments, professors and students, thus having a positive impact on society, and serving it today has become a slogan for the University of Mosul in general. Over the years, the College of Computer Science and Mathematics has graduated many students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, most of whom have been a solid scientific foundation in Mosul in particular and in our beloved Iraq in general. Our college has provided various government departments and sectors, and even the private sector, with numerous experts who have played a prominent role in their work environment. It is also worth noting that the activities and events of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics are not limited to teaching and giving lectures only. Rather, based on the need to diversify the presentation and delivery of knowledge and technology to various scientific and cognitive levels, the college has sponsored many activities that support the scientific process, where it held numerous conferences, seminars, scientific exhibitions, and purposeful cultural seasons. The departments also launched intensive summer projects and courses with the aim of developing and qualifying top students, based on the belief in the necessity of preparing students for the labor market to be a building block in the technology, information, and e-governance society. Finally, I say on my own behalf, and on behalf of the staff of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, that the spirits of the members of this college are honed… and their arms are extended to cooperate with each other… Your college is nothing but a beehive working in solidarity and cooperation… to provide a conscious and purposeful scientific product… that will bear fruit, even if it takes some time. I conclude my remarks by wishing our dear students success, wishing them success and brilliance in general, and our college students in particular distinction and creativity so that they may be elements and factors of strength and success that work and positively influence society.
