Master’s thesis for student “Tahfa Sabri Mahmoud”

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics – Computer Department titled: Analyzing the Impact of Node Mobility Patterns on Fisheye State Routing Protocol in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. Continuing with the momentum of scientific research and under the supervision and attendance of the honorable Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Duha Basheer Abdullah, the Master’s thesis for student “Tahfa Sabri Mahmoud” was discussed in the discussion hall of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Sunday, 7/9/2025, supervised by Prof. Dr. Manar Younis Ahmad.

This message discusses a study of the FSR protocol in MANETs (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks) characterized by high mobility and the absence of infrastructure. It focused on the impact of different movement patterns and evaluated performance improvements when integrating the protocol with SDN (Software Defined Networking). The study addressed constructing a simulation using NetLogo to measure performance across metrics such as loss, delay, and delivery rate. It also compared traditional FSR with FSR+SDN under different movement patterns and node speeds. The aim of the study is to clarify the effect of movement patterns on the efficiency of routing protocols in MANETs. It also seeks to highlight the role of SDN in improving performance and provides recommendations for developing more flexible protocols suitable for critical applications.

The discussion committee consisted of:

Prof. Dr. Raghid Zuhair Youssef as Chair

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayad Hussein Abdul Qader as a member

Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Ahmed as a member

Prof. Dr. Manar Younis Ahmed as a member and supervisor.
