Discussion master’s thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics -Department of ( Statistics and informatics ) entitled: Methods for estimating the rank of Markov chains with application
supervised by Dr. Zeina Mudar Yahya
The thesis addressed : the study and analysis of Markov chains as a statistical tool for modeling genetic data related to breast cancer, focusing on determining the optimal “order” of these chains
The study addressed : reviewing and comparing a range of statistical methods and criteria for rank estimation, such as the maximum likelihood method, the chi-square test, the Shannon Information Criterion, and the Akaki Information Criterion (AIC), in addition to analyzing the extracted genetic data.
The study aims to: develop a systematic statistical framework that helps researchers determine the most accurate rank of Markov chains when dealing with breast cancer data .
