Organizing a training course titled: “Selecting the Appropriate Statistical Test for Data”

Under the patronage and supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah Al-Bazzaz,
The College of Computer Science and Mathematics—as part of its continuing education program for the 2026–2027 academic year—held a course titled:
“Selecting the Appropriate Statistical Test for Data”
Presented by:
Asst. Lect. Hind Adel Ahmed
Asst. Lect. Fatima Abdul-Razzaq Ayoub
Date: September 27, 2026
The course aimed to:
Understand data types: Classifying variables (quantitative and qualitative) and recognizing their direct impact on analysis.
Distinguish between tests: Differentiating between parametric and non-parametric tests and understanding when to use each.
Align questions and hypotheses: Accurately linking research questions and hypotheses to the appropriate statistical test.
Verify conditions: Identifying the fundamental conditions required in the data prior to applying a test (such as normality of distribution).
Interpret results: Avoiding common selection errors and developing the ability to interpret analysis outputs in a scientifically sound manner.
