Publication of a New Scientific Research Paper in Sustainable Electronics Engineering and Communication Networks

As part of the scientific activities of College of Engineering at University of Mosul and its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, a new scientific research paper in the field of Sustainable Electronics Engineering and Communication Networks has been published.
The research was supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Tariq Yaseen from the Department of Communications and Intelligent Digital Systems Engineering as the first supervisor, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Firas Sami Haseeb from the same department as the second supervisor, in collaboration with engineering student Amina Ghassan Abdullah from College of Engineering. The paper was published on May 27, 2026, under the title “Sustainable Medical Internet of Things Using Data Compression and Hybrid Energy Harvesting Methods”
The research was published in Springer Proceedings in Earth and Environmental Sciences, a reputable scientific publisher specializing in disseminating research through recognized journals and conference proceedings indexed in accredited scientific databases.
The study aims to develop a sustainable Medical Internet of Things (MIoT) system based on wired and wireless sensors and a green communication network for the efficient transmission of medical data. This is achieved through the application of advanced data compression techniques and hybrid energy harvesting methods, in addition to utilizing adaptive electronic devices that reduce energy consumption and enhance the sustainability of intelligent medical systems.
The results demonstrated the feasibility of developing a highly efficient and sustainable medical communication system capable of reliable data transmission while optimizing energy consumption and supporting smart healthcare applications. The study contributes to strengthening the integration of Internet of Things technologies and green communications in modern medical applications.
