PhD Dissertation Explores the Development of Analytical Methods for the Determination of Important Pharmaceutical Compounds

The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, University of Mosul, discussed a PhD dissertation on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, entitled:
“Development of Different Analytical Methods for the Determination of Several Pharmaceutical Compounds and Their Application in Pharmaceutical Preparations.”
The dissertation was submitted by the student Diaa Thamer Aziz Fathi Al-Nuaimi.
The study focused on the development of several rapid, sensitive, and low-cost spectroscopic methods for the determination of important pharmaceutical compounds, aiming to quantify the active ingredients present in pharmaceutical formulations.
The results demonstrated the applicability of the developed methods in pharmaceutical industries for the determination of the studied compounds in their pure form as well as in commercial pharmaceutical preparations. The methods also showed the capability to analyze certain drugs in multi-component formulations containing two or more active substances.
The outcomes of the dissertation contribute to addressing challenges faced by professionals in the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors in controlling the concentration of active ingredients in pharmaceutical products.
The examination committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Nabil Subeeh Othman, and included:
- Professor Dr. Mohammed Salem Sheet
- Assistant Professor Dr. Basma Ahmed Abdulhadi
- Assistant Professor Dr. Burain Hashim Salim
- Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Abdulhay Mohammed
The dissertation was supervised by and included:
- Assistant Professor Dr. Khalida Mohammed Omar
On behalf of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Professor Dr. Firas Ahmed Dhannoun, presented a Letter of Appreciation to Assistant Professor Dr. Burain Hashim Salim from the College of Medical Technology / University of Al-Kitab, in recognition of her effort in traveling and participating in the examination committee and her valuable scientific contribution.
We extend our best wishes to our esteemed faculty members and students for continued academic excellence and success.
