Holding a continuing education course titled: “Statistical Analysis Using MATLAB”

Under the patronage and supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah Al-Bazzaz, the College organized a course titled “Statistical Analysis Using MATLAB” as part of its Continuing Education program for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The course aimed to:

1. Introduce the fundamentals of statistical analysis using MATLAB.

2. Cover data entry, processing, and analysis.

3. Apply statistical methods and tests.

4. Visualize data and interpret results.

5. Utilize statistical analysis to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support data-driven decision-making.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

1. Goal 4: Quality Education

* Developing advanced skills: Equipping participants with high-level technical and statistical skills that foster analytical and research-oriented thinking.

* Enhancing scientific research: Enabling students and researchers to conduct precise statistical analyses, thereby improving the quality of scientific papers and academic research.

* Increasing career opportunities: Developing data analysis skills enhances employability in modern, technology-driven sectors.

2. Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

* Fostering technological innovation: MATLAB is a standard tool in engineering, science, and artificial intelligence, enabling researchers and participants to build simulation models and test innovative ideas. Improving Data Infrastructure: The skills acquired help process Big Data and analyze complex trends within organizations and industrial facilities, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.

3. Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Bridging the Professional Gap: The course provides highly sought-after labor market skills (e.g., for statisticians, data analysts, and engineers), ensuring access to high-quality employment opportunities.

Boosting Economic Productivity: Organizations and companies rely on statistical analysis to improve efficiency and forecast market trends, supporting knowledge-based economic growth.

4. Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Supporting Evidence-Based Decision-Making: Accurate statistical analysis assists decision-makers, as well as public and private institutions, in formulating sustainable policies and projects grounded in reliable data.

Knowledge and Technology Exchange: The use of global programming tools like MATLAB facilitates knowledge transfer and scientific collaboration among researchers and institutions on an international scale.
