Spatial Statistics 2025: At the Dawn of AI
Dr. Manaf Hazem Ahmed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics and Informatics, College of Computer Science and Mathematics, University of Mosul, participated in the international conference “Spatial Statistics 2025: At the Dawn of AI,” which was held in Noorddijk, Netherlands, from July 15 to 18, 2025. The conference was organized by the international publishing house Elsevier, and brought together a group of experts and researchers from more than 56 countries around the world.
The lecturer participated by presenting a scientific research paper within the Spatial Deep Learning theme, titled:
“Reconstructing Spatio-Temporal Rainfall Processes Using a Conditional Diffusion Deep Generative Model.”
This research was conducted in collaboration with researchers from the University of Lyon and the University of Montpellier in France, as part of a scientific project aimed at developing deep generative models to reconstruct high-resolution rainfall data from low-resolution spatio-temporal inputs, within the context of modeling extreme environmental phenomena.
This conference is a prestigious international platform for discussing the latest developments in spatial statistics, with a special focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning techniques, and their applications in the fields of environment, health, and climate risk assessment.
