Holding a scientific workshop titled “Software-Defined Networks and Their Applications” for the Networks Department

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah, the Department of Networks at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics held a scientific workshop titled “Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Its Applications” at the college’s premises.

The workshop explores the concept of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) as a modern technology for network management and infrastructure development. It highlights the SDN architecture, its core components, and its operational mechanisms, while clarifying the distinctions between SDN and traditional networks. Furthermore, it examines the key advantages of this technology—such as centralized management, control flexibility, enhanced network performance, and efficient resource utilization. The workshop also discusses major practical applications of SDN in data centers, cloud computing, and smart networks, in addition to addressing the challenges and future trends in its development.

Workshop Objectives:

To introduce the concept of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and its significance in the evolution of modern networks. (Objective 9)

To explain the SDN architecture, its fundamental components, and how it functions, while highlighting the differences between SDN and traditional networks. (Objective 7)

To explore the benefits of SDN in facilitating network management, improving performance, and increasing flexibility and efficiency. (Objective 13)

To review prominent practical applications of SDN technology in data centers, cloud computing, and smart networks. (Objective 8)

To shed light on the challenges associated with implementing SDN and its future prospects within the field of computer networking.

Announcement of a course titled "Applied Statistical Analysis Using Stata," offered by the Department of Statistics and Informatics.
