Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah, the College of Computer Science and Mathematics – Department of Statistics and Informatics held a scientific workshop entitled “Statistical Tests and the Statistical Concept of P-Value” on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The workshop aimed to clarify the theoretical and applied foundations of statistical tests and their role in scientific research, with a focus on how to use the p-value as a primary tool for interpreting the results of these tests. The workshop also seeks to demonstrate the relationship between p-value and levels of statistical significance, and to clarify how to use them correctly to inform research decisions. In addition, modern alternatives and complements, such as confidence intervals and effect sizes, will be addressed to enhance the quality of statistical interpretation of results.
