Master’s thesis by Najat Ahmed Taha

Discussion of the master’s thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics -Department of Statistics and Informatics Department entitled:
Exploring Parameter Estimation Strategies for Stochastic Processes: a Comparative Study of Generalized Goel-Okumoto and Gompertz-Makeham Processes.
Master’s thesis by Najat Ahmed Taha
supervised by Professor Dr. Muthanna Subhi Sulaiman
This thesis includes a study and estimation of the parameters of stochastic processes using a set of traditional and intelligent statistical methods.
The study presented the basic concepts of stochastic processes and their parameters, then demonstrated the working mechanisms of various traditional and intelligent estimation methods, comparing their performance in estimating the parameters of probability distributions associated with the time rate of occurrence.
The study aims to propose two new stochastic processes using probability distributions for the time rate of occurrence of a non-homogeneous Poisson process: the generalized Joel-Okumoto process and the Gompertz-Meekham process.
